Bazi or 4 pillars of destiny is an ancient Chinese science of divination based on the 5 elements (earth, metal, water, wood, fire) and their phases. Bazi translates our birth data (hour, day, month and year) into 4 pillars, each of these pillars is directly related to different aspects and phases of life. The pillar of the year is related to our life in society, our roots and our earliest age; the pillar of the month is related to our parents, our talents and career; the pillar of the day is the main one, it represents our deepest energy, our qualities and essence, it is also related to the way we relate in romantic relationships; the pillar of the hour shows our relationship with our children and the life we will have in old age.

In the concept of ancient Chinese philosophy, the universe is made up of three cycles - heaven/universe, earth and human. Energy from the universe is always descending from above while energy from the earth is always ascending from below. Human energy is created and affected by the combination of these two energies.
